Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in France's Puy-de-Domme on August 9 1976 the oldest of four children. Audrey's parents, both a dental dentist and teacher, were aware of and supported their daughter's passion for drama and theater at an early stage. This support was more than enough to overcome her original desire to become an animal scientist. The rise was swift for her to become a famous young actor. In 1998 after her studies, she was a participant in the French program for scouting talent on TV called Jeunes Premiers that was supported by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to launching the journey to become an actor. Tautou attended the Institut Catholique de Paris, went to church in her youth and was educated Catholic. She has now distanced herself with the Catholic tradition. Along with her acting career she also pursued a modelling career. She is also the spokesperson for L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and is often referred to as The Chanel Muse. She also has a serious interest in photography and recently exhibited her work during the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. The majority of her photographs concern famous people and celebrities. The exhibit also includes a collection of self portraits as well. Audrey Tautou's global success and fame soared after her appearance in the film as Amelie Poulain's main lady in Le Fabuleux Destin in the film d'Amelie. Amelie made international waves in the field of box office, and won awards around all over the world. It's the biggest French language film ever on the US. In the following year, she appeared in British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long Sunday de Faancailles. Then Tautou moved to Hollywood where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
